Transportation of various general cargoes
Our specialists have solid experience and wide expertise in the organization of marine transportation of general cargo. An example of our successfully implemented project — delivery of a drilling rig from Busan (Korea) to Vladivostok. Transportation of heavy oversized cargo is an expensive and complex process, requiring support at every stage, including: loading of a disassembled drilling rig onto a vessel in Busan, development of cargo plans and securing schemes and subsequent delivery to Vladivostok.
Transportation of boats from Vladivostok to Bolshoy Kamen
A small project for SDS Shipping company: organization of fast transportation of boats from Vladivostok to Bolshoy Kamen. The boats were delivered from the port of Vladivostok to the port of Bolshoy Kamen on the deck of a small vessel in 10 hours.
Shipping agency services for Goliaph crane delivery
Employees of the SDS Shipping company were engaged in agency services ensured for all vessels taking part in delivery of the Goliath-type cranes to Zvezda SBC, including the very first crane installed on a heavy construction slipway. Gantry cranes of the Goliath-type with a lifting capacity of 1 200 tons and a height of 120 meters were delivered to Zvezda SBC on several vessels in a disassembled form.
Shipping agency services for TTD Vympel
Shipping agency services for the Vympel — transport-transferring dock — took part in the summer of 2018 and became one of the first significant projects for SDS Shipping company. For today Vympel TTD, built in China and delivered to Vladivostok via towing, is the largest transport-transferring dock in Russia, capable of lifting vessels weighing up to 70 000 tons. Our works on agency services were complicated by the necessity to arrange direct vessel call at the Bolshoy Kamen bay, but SDS Shipping specialists successfully provided TTD’s technical acceptance and did everything necessary for the safe entry of the dock into the bay. We also provided pilotage and towing escort for Vympel’s re-moorings and sea trials, including 3 re-moorings in the summer of 2019.
Transportation of grain crops from Russia to APR countries
SDS Shipping specialists have extensive experience in the field of sea transportation of grain cargoes. Our company provides vessels for sea transportation of soybeans, corn and oilcake to China, Korea and other APR countries, ensuring the possibility of transporting up to 15 000 tons of cargo per month in grain season.
Transportation of polyethylene terephthalate from China to Vladivostok
Over the past 2 years, SDS Shipping specialists have been successfully implementing a project on organization of transportation of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), necessary for the synthesis of polymers in production of plastic bottles and packaging from polyester fibers. As a ship broker, SDS Shipping works with the importers of polyethylene terephthalate in Russia, delivering 12 000 — 15 000 tons of such cargo per month from China to Vladivostok.
Shipping agency services for the dredging complex at the ports of Bolshoy Kamen and Vladivostok
Dredging works of the 3rd stage of construction of Zvezda SBC were carried out from April to December of 2019 with large-scale preparations that began in the fall of 2018. To implement dredging, both on its own, by towing and on board of a semi-submersible vessel to Vladivostok arrived a complex of 13 vessels, including a specialized dredge — currently one of the most expensive dredging equipment in the world. As a part of this project, SDS Shipping specialists were engaged in the customary work of the ship agents such as: vessel’s entry and departure registration, crew rotation, obtainment of all necessary permits and approvals from the government agencies, organization of the pilotage and towing support.
Transportation of tanker modules from Korea to Bolshoy Kamen
As part of the tender, SDS Shipping specialists implemented an expensive and complex project on the transportation of ship modules for the tankers construction at Zvezda SBC. Tanker modules are heavy, oversized, non-stackable cargo — its transportation requires compliance with specific conditions: careful space calculation, proper cargo fastening and distribution on the vessel.
Shipping agency services for a dredging complex at Bechevinskaya Bay
In the autumn of 2021 specialized vessels for the dredging operations during the construction of a sea cargo complex for the liquefied natural gas storage had arrived at the Bechevinskaya bay, which is located 60 miles northeast of the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in Avachinsky gulf. As a ship agent of the general dredging contractor, SDS Shipping company successfully carried out a set of works on organization of vessel’s entry and departure registration, coordination and obtainment of all permits needed for the coastal passage and dredging operations in Bechevinskaya bay, crew rotation, pilotage and towing support for the dredging complex, numbering 18 vessels.
Transportation of copper cathodes to Shanghai
Organization of copper cathodes transportation from Vladivostok to Shanghai for the largest cathode copper producer in Russia. Extremely fragile cathodes worth several billion rubles were transported as a bulk cargo.
Transportation of refractory materials
Nowadays SDS Shipping ensures sea delivery of about 50% of all refractory materials for the metallurgical industry coming through the Far East. Previously such types of cargo were mainly delivered from China to Russia by rail, but economic conditions eventually demanded other solutions — such as maritime logistics. SDS Shipping provides its customers with the vessels required for the transportation of refractories, successfully ensuring all necessary conditions for cargo stowage.
Shipping agency services for the stern section of an Aframax-type vessel
Serving as a ship agent of Zvezda SBC’s contractor for the transportation of stern parts of tankers, SDS Shipping company organized entry and registration of the towing caravan. The piloting and towing escort was provided, as well as comprehensive work on organizing the setting of the stern sections of Aframax-type tankers at the Vympel TTD, including the coordination of vessel’s call with the border services and the captain of Vladivostok’s port.
Shipping agency services for the delivery and installation of a dry dock’s gate at Bolshoy Kamen bay
Works on the agency services for the dry dock’s gate at Zvezda SBC were carried out in the spring of 2020 as part of construction completion of the largest dry dock in Russia. The uniqueness of the project consisted in the fact that delivery of the entire structure was carried out on the deck of a semi-submersible transport vessel. The works took place at the final stage of dock’s completion and was complicated by the need to install the gate in a narrow area, however, SDS Shipping specialists successfully discharged the gate using tugboats, berthed and then installed it in the waters of the Bolshoy Kamen bay.
Shipping agency services for the BigLift company. Cranes delivery to Bolshoy Kamen
Works on shipping agency services for the German-Dutch BigLift company, the world leader in the sphere of transportation of heavy cargo, was carried out in February 2021 as part of the construction completion of a cargo embankment and a deep-water pier at Zvezda SBC.
BigLift company had delivered ZPMC’s gantry cranes on a heavy-lift type of vessel of increased carrying capacity. The tasks of SDS Shipping specialists included classic shipping agency work: registration of vessel’s arrival, organization of pilotage and towing escort. Our work was complicated by extremely difficult ice conditions, since the thickness of the ice cover in Bolshoy Kamen bay in February reached one and a half meters. Despite the difficulties, the water surface was successfully prepared, and the ice cover — broken by tugboats. We ensured the berthing and discharging of cranes, which currently continue to work at the cargo and outfitting embankment No. 2 at Zvezda SBC.

Transportation of sheet steel for the Zvezda SBC
As a part of the government contract with the Zvezda SBC, SDS Shipping specialists organized the transportation of sheet steel by tender. Sheet steel was transported by sea both for export and import directions — from Korea and China. That project required meticulous and careful work on cargo marking, loading and stowage control, organization of steel separation in the cargo holds and terminal handling at the port of Bolshoy Kamen.
Transportation of veneer from Vladivostok to Japan
From 2019 to 2020, SDS Shipping specialists were actively engaged in ensuring the export of natural veneer to Japan for a large Russian lumber manufacturer, organizing several voyages per month. To organize the transportation of such fragile cargo careful calculations were made and detailed cargo plans drawn up.
